So I’ve had the alter ego JenLivingLife for years on twitter but I never expanded it beyond that until now. I set up the website and when I started adding widgets I realized I only had one little social icon to put on there. I use YouTube, Facebook, etc. just not as JenLivingLife necessarily. Well this prompted me to set up the others since it seems logical that they’d all work together well with the website. OMG… four hours later!!!! Ya, that was a pain. I had to link this to that, unlink that from there, yadda yadda yadda. The worst was trying to set the personalized url on YouTube. You can do this by having 500 folllowers/fans/or whatever-the-heck they are called there – subscribers maybe?? OR by jumping through a few super-hoops. I tried the hoops route and failed miserably but not until after a valiant try. I think you might have to be a lot more website developer savvy, aka know ANTHING about writing html which I am not/do not.
I’d like to think the lesson here is PATIENCE since I know I definitely don’t have any of that and would like to develop some. I can tell you it would take a buttload of patience to wait for 500 to follow my vids and really, by then do I even care about a custom url anymore by then. I think not.
My advise – if you landed here reading this hoping for helpful insight on YouTube custom urls – just don’t bother. Tag your vids with the name you want and when someone searches they’ll find you that way.
Oh but if you do figure it out and it’s not rocket-science-esk please let me know. And by let me know I don’t mean brag about your awesomeness and leave me hanging. Share your knowledge!
